Kolon Biotech is moving to expand global partnerships on the strength of its end-to-end contract development and manufacturing organization capabilities, which support cell and gene therapy programs from early development through commercialization.
Kolon Biotech, a subsidiary of Kolon Life Science (102940), said on the 22nd that it will take part in Bio Plus-Interphex Korea 2026, or BIX 2026, running from the 28th to the 30th at COEX in Seoul.
The company will operate a standalone booth in the CMO and CDMO zone, presenting its CDMO service capabilities for advanced biopharmaceuticals including cell therapies, genetically modified cell therapies, stem cell therapies and exosome therapies. It also plans to hold business meetings with domestic and overseas biotech companies to explore new partnerships and cooperation opportunities.
Kolon Biotech was established in 2020 through the spin-off of Kolon Life Science's bio manufacturing division and specializes in cell and gene therapy CDMO work. Its good manufacturing practice, or GMP, production site in Chungju can turn out both investigational drugs for clinical trials and commercial products, allowing it to handle a range of client production needs.
Drawing on expertise across chemistry, manufacturing and controls and a GMP system built to global standards, the company supports the full drug development process, including process development, quality testing, GMP production, regulatory filing support, and storage and transport. Its first bio plant in Chungju handles clinical trial materials and early commercial supply, while the second bio plant takes on large-scale commercial supply.
The company is also focusing on wider use of automated systems and closed processing in two-dimensional cell culture to produce cells reliably at large volumes. Kolon Biotech said it expects the shift to lift productivity and strengthen its cost competitiveness in manufacturing.
