Another Eagles edge rusher goes down with an injury

It’s something Eagles fans have gotten used to over the past few weeks, but the injuries started early against the Panthers, and continued through the second quarter. Nolan Smith went down and was evaluated on the field before ultimately heading into the locker room without his helmet. The OLB was pretty quickly ruled out with a concussion and won’t return to the game.

Smith is always an important part of the Eagles defense, but with both Jalyx Hunt and A.J. Epenesa already out of Sunday’s game with injuries, his role was elevated even more. Jonathan Greenard, Arnold Ebiketie, and Keyshawn James-Newby are those left active in Week 6. KJN was elevated from the practice squad for this game, and made his NFL regular season debut shortly after Smith was sidelined.

Before leaving the game, Smith had three total tackles and a big sack on the Panthers opening drive, but unfortunately wasn’t able to finish off what could have been an impressive performance.
