Fifteen vehicles donated by the late Zimbabwean businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo to various recipients remain unpaid for, with the matter now hinging on the settlement of his estate, Enterprise Car Sales owner Madzibaba Tendai Chipanga has revealed.

Chipanga disclosed to ZBC News, confirming that the outstanding payments had not been cleared before Chivayo's death and would only be resolved once estate proceedings were finalised.
He added that no vehicles had been reclaimed from any of the beneficiaries, pushing back against circulating reports that some recipients had been asked to hand their cars back.
Sugar Sugar's Toyota Fortuner Under Scrutiny
Among the recipients caught in the uncertainty is Sungura musician Taruvinga Manjokota, widely known as Sugar Sugar, the artist behind the popular song Mudododo. The musician received a Toyota Fortuner from Chivayo as a gift, but has since confirmed that he does not possess the vehicle's registration book.
The admission has added fuel to claims that the car dealers involved are seeking the return of the Fortuner, given that it was never fully paid for before the businessman passed away. Sugar Sugar has not disputed that the car was gifted to him, but the absence of the registration document has left his ownership in a precarious position.
Estate Settlement Holds the Key
Chipanga's statement suggests the situation affecting Sugar Sugar is not unique. At least 14 other vehicles distributed by Chivayo appear to be in a similar position, with payments still outstanding and no clear timeline for resolution.
The car dealer indicated that beneficiaries should not expect immediate action against them, as the focus currently rests on the formal processes surrounding Chivayo's estate.
The dispute highlights the complications that can arise when high-profile gifts are made without completing the underlying financial transactions, particularly when the benefactor dies before those obligations are met.
For recipients like Sugar Sugar, the joy of an unexpected gift has given way to uncertainty over whether they will ultimately retain what they were given.
