Litton Das rode his luck to an unbeaten 81 as Bangladesh extended their lead over Afghanistan to a commanding 443 runs at lunch on the fourth day of the one-off Test in Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh reached 337-6 after 98 overs in their second innings at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, having resumed on 223-6 with a lead of 329 on Monday.
The visitors went through the morning session without losing a wicket, adding 114 runs as Litton and Mehidy Hasan Miraz frustrated Afghanistan's hopes of wrapping up the innings quickly.
Litton, who had been unbeaten on five overnight, led the charge with attacking batting and reached his second half-century of the match off 61 balls.
But the wicketkeeper-batsman needed plenty of luck along the way.
He was dropped twice off Qais Ahmad early in the session, first at slip by Shahidullah Kamal when on 14 and then by the leg-spinner himself off a return catch when on 26.
Afghanistan's failure to preserve a review also proved costly.
With Litton on 67, he edged a delivery from Yamin Ahmadzai through to wicketkeeper Ikram Alikhil, but the umpire turned down the appeal.
Replays showed a clear edge, but Afghanistan had already exhausted their three reviews and could not challenge the decision.
Miraz also survived a dropped catch on 19 when he edged Ahmadzai towards slip, where the fielder could only get his fingertips to the ball.
He had earlier escaped a possible run-out after a fielder missed the stumps at the bowler's end during a risky single.
The pair brought up their 50-run partnership off 72 balls before completing a century stand from 135 deliveries, tightening Bangladesh's grip on the contest.
Litton also achieved a personal milestone, becoming the first Bangladeshi wicketkeeper to score two half-centuries and complete at least five dismissals in the same Test.
He had made 53 in the first innings before taking four catches and completing a stumping during Afghanistan's innings of 240.
Bangladesh had earlier scored 346 in their first innings to secure a 106-run advantage, before Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim struck 82 and 81 respectively in the second innings.
Litton was unbeaten on 81 off 96 balls at lunch, with Miraz on 38 off 74, their unbroken seventh-wicket partnership having stretched to 114 runs.
