Good morning, BBN!
Kentucky Football seemed to be gaining serious momentum in recruiting elite 2028 quarterback Josiah Boyd, but the Wildcats may now be losing ground to UCLA.
Boyd, a 4-star prospect from Moreno Valley, California, is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 31 overall prospect in the 2028 class by Rivals. The talented signal-caller recently visited Lexington for Kentucky’s thrilling victory over LSU, giving Will Stein and the Wildcats a significant boost in his recruitment.
Following that visit, Rivals recruiting expert Greg Biggins shifted his prediction toward Kentucky, suggesting the Wildcats had emerged as a legitimate favorite.
However, the momentum has quickly shifted again.
According to Rivals’ latest expert predictions, Greg Biggins, Brandon Huffman, Steve Wiltfong, and Adam Gorney are now predicting Boyd will commit to UCLA.
The Bruins have made a strong late push for the California native, who recently visited UCLA twice in one week.
Boyd has narrowed his choices to Kentucky, UCLA, and Oregon, and he now plans to announce his commitment on October 24. He previously planned a November decision date when Kentucky was seen as the favorite.
Kentucky remains in contention, but UCLA appears to have taken control of the recruitment. It’ll be interesting to see who Kentucky will focus on in 2028 if Boyd does commit to the Bruins.
