PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) today apologised for disruptions on the Malaysian navigation app TuJu following a surge in users.
LLM said it would work with the application provider, Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, to identify the root cause of the disruptions, restore system stability and improve the app’s capacity to handle the increased user volume.
"LLM apologises for the inconvenience caused to users," it said in a statement.
LLM also said it was taking into account feedback on navigation features, route information accuracy and the overall user experience.
"Improvements will continue to be made to ensure that TuJu provides a more stable, accurate and user-friendly service.
"We understand user trust needs to be built through reliable service. TuJu’s improvements will not be limited to system stability. We will also improve navigation functions, information accuracy and the ability to meet users’ needs," it said.
LLM said it would continue working with the works ministry, the National Cyber Security Agency and relevant parties to strengthen the local navigation ecosystem, including addressing issues relating to security and data governance.
It said the uptick in users followed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s recommendation of the app as an alternative to navigation app Waze, which was founded in Israel.
Civil servants were banned from using Waze following an Oct 20 letter issued by Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, who said the decision was made at a National Cybersecurity Committee meeting earlier that day.
However, complaints from TuJu users have surfaced on social media platforms such as Threads, citing issues with the app including unreliable route navigation, a lack of real-time incident data and bugs that affect user experience.
