The Dallas Cowboys are making their final preparations for Sunday Night Football on the road against the Green Bay Packers. One big question mark has been the status of cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
Porter was acquired in a big trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers a few weeks ago. The move was an aggressive swing to help fix a defense that has been underwhelming.
Since being acquired by the Cowboys, Porter has played in just one game.
Having Porter available against Jordan Love and a Packers’ offense coming off of a 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears is key. His status has been unclear due to an ankle injury that he suffered. Porter missed last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dallas Cowboys Land New Update on Star CB Joey Porter Jr.
According to a report from NFL insider Ed Werder, Porter rolled his ankle in practice this week. He is still hoping to be available against Green Bay.
“I’m told Cowboys cornerback Joey Porter rolled his ankle in practice this week, an injury that has him listed as questionable tomorrow night against Green Bay,” Werder reported on X. “A source involved says Porter is hoping to play and that his game status has nothing to with his contract.”
While he isn’t out of the words and active yet, this report has his status trending in the right direction.
Throughout his 47-game career thus far, the 26-year-old cornerback has recorded 165 total tackles, a sack, three interceptions, and 31 defended passes. When he’s healthy, he is a big-time difference marker.
Only time will tell whether or not the Cowboys end up having Porter active this week. Coming in with a 2-3 record, Dallas is facing as close to a must-win situation as it can get in Week 6.
