The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 21 local government areas in the just concluded local government council elections held Saturday across the state.
Chairman of Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Mamman Nda-Eri, who declared the results after the conclusion of collation of results at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja Saturday said the APC cleared all the chairmanship and councillorship seats across the 21 LGAs and 239 wards of the state.
Nda-Eri described the exercise as peaceful, credible and in line with the electoral guidelines, while commending security agencies, observers, journalists and the electorate for their orderly conduct.
She said the successful conduct of the polls marked the completion of the 13 activities lined up by the commission for the 2026 local government elections, which began last year, adding that Certificates of Return will be issued to all the winners in due course.
The outgoing chairmen and councillors, sworn-in on October 23, 2024, will leave office this month as stipulated by the two-year tenure in the State Electoral Law.
