The most memorable pregame looks are not always the loudest. DeWanna Bonner offered a reminder of that before Monday's WNBA Finals Game 2, arriving for Atlanta's matchup with Golden State in a coordinated outfit that favored clean lines and subtle details over an elaborate entrance.
Bonner wore a mauve-colored Nike sweatsuit, with pleated sleeves adding an unexpected design element to the otherwise relaxed look. Several Dream players leaned toward tracksuits and comfortable clothing ahead of the game, but the veteran's choice stood out because of its color and finish. It was a practical outfit with enough personality to make it part of the night's fashion conversation.
A different look for a high-pressure game
There was plenty of pressure surrounding Atlanta's arrival. The Dream had lost Game 1 to the Valkyries, 68-64, and faced the possibility of falling behind 2-0 before the series shifted home. Golden State's crowd at Chase Center had helped create an intense setting for the opening game.

Bonner's appearance fit into a wider range of styles on display Monday. Tiffany Hayes of the Valkyries wore a T-shirt carrying a message about women's sports. Golden State's Janelle Salaün arrived in a black tracksuit with red accents, while Miela Sowah chose a bright pink suit. The players demonstrated that tunnel fashion does not have to follow a single theme, even during the same championship event.
The league gave those looks an unusually prominent platform. A special orange-carpet program on E! and USA Network highlighted arrivals ahead of Game 2, part of the WNBA's 30th-season celebration. That attention reflects how player fashion has become a regular part of the conversation surrounding major basketball games.

Atlanta's performance became the bigger statement
Once play began, the Dream gave their traveling supporters something more important to celebrate. Angel Reese scored 30 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a 79-65 win, and Atlanta held Golden State to nine third-quarter points. The victory tied the Finals at one game apiece and gave the franchise its first win in a championship series.
Game 3 will be played Wednesday in Atlanta. There will be more arrivals, more outfits and more opportunities for individual expression. Bonner's Game 2 look, however, illustrated a useful point: even on the sport's biggest stage, a polished and comfortable choice can be every bit as distinctive as a dramatic one.
