The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Oil and Gas reported today that representatives from its International Cooperation, Technical, and Planning departments held a preliminary meeting with representatives from Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and the Chinese firm Jereh Oil and Gas.
The Jereh Group (formally Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group Co., Ltd., listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange as SZSE: 002353) is a major Chinese manufacturer of oilfield equipment and provider of integrated energy, gas engineering, and environmental solutions.
CCC has had a long presence in Libya. For example, it was part of an international joint venture (alongside Brazil's Odebrecht and Turkey's TAV) awarded the abandoned contract for the Tripoli International Airport development project in 2007.
The Ministry said the preliminary meeting comes as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and attract investment to Libya’s oil and gas sector.
The meeting aimed to explore prospects for cooperation and investment opportunities within the Libyan market.
The meeting was attended by Magdy El-Halawani, representing the CCC Group; Maysam Khaled, Acting Head of the CCC office; and Mr. Dennis Dai, Business Development Manager at Jereh Oil and Gas.
Discussions focused on establishing strategic partnerships and exploring available investment opportunities in Libya’s oil and gas sector. The aim is to support development, advance the sector, and enhance the role of international companies in executing future projects.
Representatives from both companies expressed their interest in entering and expanding their investments in the Libyan market. They voiced their aspiration to establish a strong presence as leading players in the market, thereby fostering cooperation and achieving mutual interests.
The Ministry of Oil and Gas said the meeting aligns with its strategic direction to broaden cooperation with international companies and create an attractive investment environment, ultimately supporting the development of the oil and gas sector and fostering sustainable growth.
