The Telangana Congress plans to organise a massive public meeting accompanied by a march involving two lakh people after Dasara, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud said, adding that the Congress high command had decided to hold public meetings in two southern States following the directions from Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal.
Speaking informally to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, he said that the Congress was also making serious efforts to prepare for the graduate MLC elections. “A meeting involving the Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs would be held at the MCHRD on the 23rd to discuss the elections,” he added.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress would extend support to anyone fighting against the BJP, which he described as a communal party.
Accusing the BJP of creating divisions between religious communities for political gains, he questioned the connection between Lord Rama and politics.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud said Rajiv Gandhi had performed the bhoomi puja for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Referring to the 2029 general elections, he said people were already predicting the BJP’s defeat.
On State politics, the TPCC chief said the Congress government was committed to the welfare of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) workers. He dismissed the BRS’s proposed Singareni Garjana as meaningless.
He said elections to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) trade unions had been conducted after a gap of 15 years.
On the controversy surrounding 45 acres of land at Erravalli, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud said an inquiry was under way to establish who had encroached upon the land. He said BRS MLC K. Kavitha was speaking about her family and that the facts she was presenting were being understood by the public.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar Goud attributed the delay in appointments to corporation posts to the need to ensure justice for party workers who had worked hard. The appointments were likely to be made by Dasara, he added.
