Han Byung-do, floor leader of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea, sharply criticized People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo, saying he "should offer a full apology and resign from his seat." Han argued that Joo is disrupting the National Assembly by focusing solely on political attacks rather than reasonable criticism.
At a Democratic Party meeting on parliamentary audit strategy held on the 13th, Han said, "The behavior the People Power Party is showing in this parliamentary audit is nothing short of a contest in verbal abuse." He added, "Among them, the unreasonable abusive language and bizarre conduct of People Power Party lawmakers Joo Jin-woo and Lee Jin-sook have gone too far. They are at the level of online provocateurs who chase clicks by piling onto any controversy, desperate for page views."
Regarding Joo, Han said, "He is even exploiting the collapse of a commercial building in Daegu, which left numerous people injured, for partisan strife." Han said, "The presidential office disclosed in detail the purpose of the private schedule and the circumstances of its response in order to prevent unnecessary controversy. Yet Rep. Joo released footage of security vehicles and is demanding a second-by-second schedule, even calling for a special counsel investigation. He shows no interest in managing the aftermath of the accident and is only fired up about political attacks."
Han continued, "Yesterday he went so far as to post a chilling message saying it is 'time to cut off Lee Jae-myung.'" He said, "He made abusive remarks that appeared to hint at death, directed at a president whose life was threatened by political terrorism." Han added, "The shallow scheme of boosting one's own presence through base noise marketing will no longer work. The People Power Party must not leave the conduct of these two lawmakers unchecked and should fulfill its responsibility as a public political party."
Han also called on Supreme Court Chief Justice Jo Hee-de to resign. "Through yesterday's parliamentary audit of the Board of Audit and Inspection, it was confirmed again that the chief justice's office paid cash as incentive bonuses to Supreme Court justices and the head of the National Court Administration," Han said, raising his voice. "Nevertheless, Chief Justice Jo gave a false explanation at the National Assembly to cover himself." He continued, "He should step down from his post even now. He must face the fact that the very person damaging the authority and trust of the judiciary is Chief Justice Jo Hee-de himself."
