The new vehicles, donated by supporters in seven countries, will join Magen David Adom’s fleet of approximately 2,000 ambulances operating across Israel.
Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, inaugurated 96 new ambulances at its headquarters in Ramla on Thursday, marking the organization’s 96th year of lifesaving operations.
The ceremony was attended by Michel Katorza, president of the MDA European Friends Association, and MDA Director-General Eli Bin, alongside the organization’s employees and volunteers.
The ambulances were donated by supporters in the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium and Australia through MDA’s international friends’ associations.
The new vehicles will be deployed across Israel to strengthen the organization’s emergency medical response, help reduce response times and support its teams in responding to medical emergencies during both routine operations and times of crisis.
“During its 96th year of activity, Magen David Adom is inaugurating 96 new ambulances, which will join the fleet of approximately 2,000 ambulances already operating across the country to save lives,” Bin said.
“Although 96 is a mature age, Israel’s national emergency medical service is young and strong, and brings exceptional modern lifesaving capabilities that enable it to meet the challenges, scenarios and emergency incidents that arise in Israel,” he continued.
“I would like to thank the generous donors and the friends’ associations around the world, which do outstanding work to strengthen Magen David Adom in its primary mission: saving lives,” Bin said.
