Packers Urged to Trade for 3X Pro Bowl DT to Bolster Defense

With their 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers are now on a three-game winning streak and have a 4-2 record on the season.

With the way the Packers are playing right now, they are setting themselves up to being prime buyers ahead of the trade deadline. One of Green Bay's needs is to improve their defense. Due to this, the Packers are now being linked to one a star defensive tackle.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox named the Packers as the top potential trade suitor for Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner ahead of the deadline.

"The three-time Pro Bowler is also playing in the final year of his current contract. Trading him would provide some cap relief while allowing the Colts to acquire something in return for a player who could leave in free agency next spring," Knox wrote about Buckner. "Potential Suitors: Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers."

With the Colts struggling and recently firing Chris Ballard as their general manager, there is an expectation that they will be sellers ahead of the deadline. Due to this, it makes sense that a veteran like Buckner is already creating chatter in the rumor mill as a trade candidate.

Buckner would be a very good addition the Packers' roster if they acquired him. This is the 11-year NFL veteran has shown throughout his career that he can make a big impact when playing at his best. Thus, it would make sense for a Packers team that is looking to make the playoffs to bring him in.

In six games this season for the Colts, Buckner has recorded four sacks and 26 combined tackles.
