Sonia Sonnie, who runs Dora Technology, shared her distress in a social media post, revealing that she learnt about the incident after receiving an emotional phone call from one of her employees.
According to Sonia, the employee called her in tears, asking her to check WhatsApp after discovering that most of the business's equipment had been stolen.

However, rather than checking the messages first, Sonia said she went straight to the CCTV footage to establish what had happened.
The incident left her devastated, especially because Dora Technology had only opened its doors this year.
Sonia explained that she had invested money, time and energy into building the business, with hopes of growing its sales, expanding its operations and establishing a successful enterprise.
Back to Zero
For her, the loss went beyond the stolen laptops and other equipment. It also represented the sacrifices she had made and the dreams she had begun building through the business.
"Imagine kuanza kitu kutoka zero, kujinyima, kuwekeza pesa yako, kufanya kazi kwa bidii… alafu in one morning, everything changes," she lamented.
Beyond the loss of equipment, Sonia said she was hurt by the reactions she received online following the incident.
She claimed that some people questioned whether she had CCTV evidence, while others accused her of seeking publicity or made jokes about the situation.
Sonia Addresses Online Trolling
The entrepreneur expressed frustration at people who appeared to dismiss her pain, explaining that being a good storyteller did not mean she would joke about something she had worked hard to establish.
Sonia said she had spent the day feeling hurt and frustrated, adding that she was still processing what had happened.
She also pushed back against the idea that sympathy or motivational messages could compensate for the loss her business had suffered.
"It's easy to sit behind a screen and make jokes about someone's pain when you're not the one dealing with the consequences," she said.
Sonia Vows to Move Forward
Despite the setback, Sonia maintained that the incident would not mark the end of her entrepreneurial journey.
She acknowledged that she did not have a motivational speech to offer at the moment, but remained hopeful that she and her team would find a way forward.
"One thing I know is that this is not the end of our story. We will figure out the next step, one day at a time," she wrote.
Sonia also thanked those who had called, sent messages, checked on the business and prayed for her during the difficult moment.
She appealed for continued prayers as she and her team work through the aftermath of the incident.
