Brilliant comedian and so-so publican Joe Lycett has been playing a decent game on Celebrity Traitors.
The 38-year-old helped expose Richard E. Grant (Although Richard exposed himself, really), and his name has not really come up in the Traitors’ turret or at the round table.
All of that might be about to change soon, however.
Last night Joe, for whatever reason, spent the evening telling anyone who would listen (and several people who clearly weren’t listening) that he wanted to be recruited by the Traitors.
‘I was going to have an alcoholic drink, but actually I’m not going to now, because I want a clear head in case I’m recruited,’ he told the kitchen.
‘There’s a beautiful vacancy now,’ he declared before explaining how his history of impish stunts would make him well suited to the emerald cloak.

‘Just to be clear, I’d love to be recruited, ‘ he later told Miranda. ‘I want the full experience as much as possible.’
Sadly, Joe didn’t get his wish as the Traitors decided to recruit YouTuber King Kenny instead.

However, fans are convinced that Joe might have unintentionally doomed himself.
‘Joe Lycett is playing a dangerous game running around saying recruit me,’ wrote @PrinnyZen on X.
‘I have a feeling this is gonna put a lot of suspicion on Joe now’ agreed @lizmatthews__. ‘He’s spoken so much about wanting to be recruited that now someone has; everyone’s gonna be looking at him.’
@rileys_ghost joked: ‘If Joe Lycett gets recruited, I think he’s so excited he’s at risk of pulling a Richard.’
@tennisafiya meanwhile said she was ‘looking forward to all the heat being on [Joe] after they realise no one’s dead.’
Do you think Joe's time in the castle might be done?
-
Absolutely, he's put a target on his backCheck
-
No, there's others more likely to go firstCheck
The fears about Joe’s future aren’t contained to X either. On Reddit, Donttrustthell claimed, ‘Joe is gonna be targeted so hard.’
While redditingtonviking said they would be ‘very surprised’ if Joe Lycett doesn’t end up banished next episode because ‘his blatant begging for recruitment will look very suspicious to the faithfuls.’
Now the Traitors have Kenny in the round table; it does seem likely they’ll cook up some fiendish plot, and Joe does seem vulnerable.
Could Joe be the next Faithful sent home empty-handed? Well, it’s possible, but Joanne McNally is looking vulnerable as well.
We’ll just have to keep watching, I guess, because you never can predict what will happen on The Traitors.
The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
