Sure, former New England tight end and Tom Brady bestie Rob Gronkowski has been out of the game for a hot minute or so, but that doesn’t mean his opinion doesn’t hold water.
And boy, does he have one heck of an opinion on the 2-3 Los Angeles Rams.
Things got captivatingly chippy during the Rams 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday, both on the field and off, so the scope on the NFC West team got a little wider.
“With the Los Angeles Rams, I was telling somebody, ‘I think I’m out on them,’ I really am,” Gronk told Kay Adams during “Up & Adams” on Wednesday. “I’m a little disappointed (with their) play over five weeks. It’s not like they’ve shown any domination at all.”
Gronk pointed out their weakest win of the season.
“Yeah, they dominated the New York Giants on that Monday Night Fooball game, but hey, they took a dagger right to the heart – the Giants – when their quarterback went out for the whole entire season. And then Jameis Winston came in and he wasn’t prepared. It was a game that just didn’t feel right and the Rams just got away with it easy and that was the only game where it was very convincing that they were a dominate team. All the other games, hey, I don’t know – where is it? Like they can’t figure out how to win the games as well. They’re losing the games. A lot of things are handed to them.
“So far I’m out on the Los Angeles Rams going to the Super Bowl. Maybe not even the playoffs either.”
Outside of special teams, Adams wanted to know what is the key factor in these Rams losses and Gronkowski said that it was possibly some players were relying on other players – primarily the superstar players – to handle a majority of the work.
“I really think that sometimes, it happens,” Gronk said. “Or, it just doesn’t mesh. The game of football is all about meshing everyone together and (at times) they show dominancy on the offensive side of the ball. But the defense for the Rams is letting up a lot of points. They’re not playing well. Also, they’re not playing tough. They don’t look like a tough football team right now. They’re getting pushed over, they’re getting dominated across the board."
