Greek politician Afroditi Latinopoulou has expressed regret over the unrest in France, while sharply criticising those she says are celebrating or exploiting the violence.
“I am very sorry about what is happening in France,” she said. “I am even more sorry that the leftists are rejoicing in the violence, destruction, vandalism and crimes that are happening.”

She also criticised Greek social-media figures who have travelled to France. “I am also sorry that Greek so-called ‘influencers’ have gone to make videos supporting the so-called revolution.”
Latinopoulou claimed that “extremist Islamists, second- and third-generation illegal immigrants, hand in hand with far-left organisations, are at the forefront” of the destruction.
Her remarks form part of a broader appeal urging supporters to become politically active, arguing that “nothing changes unless we change it.”
