Dak Prescott is not having a good 2026 NFL season so far with the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise only has two wins this season, and has lost the other four games. Pressure has been mounting on the team over the lack of results.
Amid this situation, the league has also been talking about changes to the regular season schedule. Prescott has shared his own views on the matter, which included a stern message.
Dak Prescott speaks on NFL adding another game
Prescott was recently talking about the possibility of the NFL expanding its regular season to 18 games during a recent interview with Front Office Sports. The change is not permitted under the current collective bargaining agreement but could become a negotiating point in future talks between the league and the NFL Players Association. There has been significant talk about the matter in recent weeks.
Prescott expressed openness to the idea but only under specific conditions. He stated that an 18th game would require adjustments, which could include additional player compensation, an extra bye week, and a shortened preseason.
He said, “Yeah, I think those two things you just said right there would be vital and necessary for the 18th game to happen. I don’t know if anybody out there is saying, ‘Yeah, let’s go work another day on the job, or whatever it may be, for free.'”
He added, “My view on it is, if it’s better for the game, I’m always looking for an opportunity to play to display my love for this game and passion for it in front of our fans. I get that there’s a certain number of too many games and we’re probably getting to that limit, but I don’t know if one more hurts us.” Prescott also talked about his franchise’s owner Jerry Jones.

Prescott was also asked about Jones’ relationship with the media. He said, “I think ultimately when he does that, whether you like his messages or not, you create an opinion of the Cowboys. And if you have an opinion of the Cowboys, good or bad, you’re gonna wanna tune in, you’re gonna wanna find out if they’re winning or if they’re losing … When you have an opinion, eyes are all on.”
He also said that he learned from the experienced owner a lot, “I’d definitely say his business savviness and just watching him from afar has definitely rubbed off and helped me out. I wouldn’t say it’s from going up against him and duking things out.”
Dak Prescott will now focus on the next game, which is against the Philadelphia Eagles.
