The scoreline in the Barcelona vs PSG game could have looked a lot worse had it not been for some impressive performances from some of the youngter stars in the team.
While Xavi Espart’s superb display has already been well documented, another player who deserves credit for his performance on the night is Gerard Martin.
The young defender was heading into that game on the back of a knock picked up against Real Betis. Yet, he produced an excellent shift at the heart of the Barcelona backline.
Gerard Martin’s performance vs PSG
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Martin was one of Barcelona’s more impressive performers in defence against PSG, despite an initial fear of injury.

Although tests revealed no injury, caution was warranted, but Martin’s sheer determination ultimately earned him a place in the side.
Despite not being at full fitness, the 24-year-old rose to the occasion against one of the most devastating attacks in world football.
He finished the match with 14 recoveries, losing possession just once while winning every ground and aerial duel he contested. He also completed 58 passes at a 92% accuracy rate, won four rebounds and drew two fouls.
Barring any late surprises, Martin will start again on Sunday in what will be his sixth Clasico in just three seasons, a list that already includes a standout showing against Rodrygo in the Copa del Rey final.

The report adds that Martin’s steady rise has not gone unnoticed by the Barcelona hierarchy.
Having surpassed the 100-game mark for the first team in little over two years, the defender has become one of the pillars of Flick’s side, forging a reliable partnership with Pau Cubarsi.
As a result, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is working to reward that progress with fresh terms.
Martin’s current deal runs until 2028, but the club are pushing to extend it by a further two or three years, potentially until 2030 or 2031.
