Padmapur Club in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district, is organising its 48th Durga Puja this year with a budget of around Rs 22 lakh, with a pandal modelled on a famous Krishna temple in Mathura as the main attraction.
The club has undertaken preparations to mark the occasion, with the pandal’s design drawing inspiration from the temple’s architectural style. The organisers expect the structure to attract visitors during the festival.
Apart from the pandal, the club has focused on the idol, illumination and other decorative arrangements. According to the organisers, local artisans have been engaged in the construction of the pandal, idol-making, lighting and other related work.
The club has sought to highlight the creativity and skills of local artisans through this year’s arrangements. The use of local talent has been a key feature of the preparations for the 48th edition of the puja.
Alongside the decorations, the organisers have made arrangements to improve facilities for visitors. Seating arrangements, a baby-feeding room and toilet facilities will be available at the venue. The club has taken these measures to help visitors view the idol and participate in the celebrations with greater convenience.
The puja will also feature cultural programmes and social welfare activities. Cultural events will begin on Sasthi evening.
The club has also planned a clothes distribution programme and other social welfare initiatives as part of its annual celebrations. Through these activities, the organisers aim to extend the festival’s reach beyond the pandal and involve people from different sections of society.
Padmapur Club’s Durga Puja is among the big-budget pujas organised in Dharmanagar. The organisers expect the combination of the Mathura-inspired temple design, locally executed artistic work and visitor facilities to draw people from across North Tripura and other parts of Tripura.
Club members have invited people from North Tripura and the rest of the state to visit the pandal, view the idol of Goddess Durga and take part in the festivities.
