Equipment from Espaço Portas do Sol finds a new home at the Portimão Soup Kitchen

This equipment was part of the café project at Espaço Portas do Sol in Portimão, which closed on 31 August 2026. After being put up for sale, it has now found a new purpose, serving those who need it most.

Roberto Estorninho, representative of the Associação Cultural Ideias do Levante, said with delight that this equipment has now found a new home, where it can help those who already do so much to help others. He added that this equipment was acquired by Ideias do Levante a few years ago thanks to the generosity of many people, and that the very same equipment has now found a new home full of generosity.

Joy Borgan, representing the Portimão Soup Kitchen, said that for some time there had been a need to acquire industrial equipment to replace the current sinks and worktops, and that this opportunity has met that need. She added that this kindness from Ideias do Levante is like a dream come true.

The Portimão Soup Kitchen has operated since 2010 and is run by volunteers. It serves hot meals, soup, sandwiches, fruit and yoghurts to anyone in need, on three days each week, by the old bridge in Portimão, with more than 600 meals served weekly.
