The Dondo cement factory, in Sofala province, has increased its production capacity with the commissioning of a new clinker production line capable of producing 3,000 tonnes per day, reducing dependence on imports of this raw material.
The facility began operating this October, following an expansion and modernisation project launched in May 2025. The construction work was carried out by China Railway No. 20 Bureau (Moçambique), Lda.
With this investment, the plant’s annual cement grinding capacity is expected to increase from 750,000 to 1.3 million tonnes, strengthening supplies to the market in the country’s central region.
The project includes a five-megawatt electricity generation system that uses waste heat, designed to improve the industrial plant’s energy efficiency.
The factory now belongs to Huaxin Cement. It was founded in 1949.
