Croatia has opened a €2.9 million funding programme to support economic development in local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on areas where the Croatian community lives.
The Ministry of Economy announced the public call on 20 October as part of a programme covering the 2025–2027 period.
The funding is intended to help municipalities, cities and regional authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina develop public business infrastructure, improve conditions for entrepreneurship and attract investment.
Eligible projects include the construction, reconstruction, expansion, renovation and modernisation of business facilities and infrastructure.
The programme also covers business zones, incubators, technology and entrepreneurship centres, business centres and other facilities designed to support companies and local economic activity.
Funding may additionally be used for associated transport, utility, energy and communications infrastructure, as well as equipment, machinery, digital solutions and energy-efficiency improvements.
Renewable energy and smart infrastructure projects are also included among the eligible activities.
The government has allocated €2.9 million in total. Individual projects can receive grants ranging from €50,000 to €290,000.
Applications may be submitted by local and regional government authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including municipalities, cities and cantons.
The application period runs from 19 October to 7 November 2026. Applications must be sent electronically to the Croatian Ministry of Economy.
The initiative forms part of Croatia’s wider support for economic development in neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina. By directing funding towards shared infrastructure and business facilities, the programme aims to strengthen the conditions for local entrepreneurship, encourage investment and support employment.
For potential applicants, the relatively short application window makes the programme particularly relevant to local authorities that already have infrastructure projects prepared or under development.
The call does not guarantee funding for every eligible project. Applications will need to be assessed under the programme’s requirements.
