Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has announced that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the second phase of the laptop and scholarship schemes, saying the future of young people lies in technology, artificial intelligence and skills development.
In a statement, Bokhari said the country’s youth needed educational opportunities and modern skills to prepare for the future, adding that containers, long marches and sit-ins could not provide a path to progress.
She said Maryam Nawaz was addressing the educational and social needs of young men and women in Punjab with the same care she would give her own children, claiming that her initiatives had increased her popularity among young people.
The provincial minister alleged that political opponents, threatened by Maryam Nawaz’s popularity and performance, repeatedly resorted to personal attacks against her. She added that some individuals who spoke about morality and values were also driven by hostility towards the chief minister.
Bokhari said Maryam Nawaz had demonstrated her performance through practical initiatives and was gaining international recognition as a result.
Commenting on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the minister said the era of what she described as “fake change” and hollow slogans had come to an end.
She blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the province’s security challenges, alleging that the party had prioritised terrorism over national interests and peace.
The minister said the Pakistan Army and other security institutions were making continuous sacrifices to eliminate terrorism. She added that criticism of security institutions at such a time undermined the morale of security personnel.
Bokhari said the Pakistani nation stood firmly alongside its security forces in their efforts to maintain peace and combat terrorism.
