Nagaland’s Cabinet Sub-Committee on Temporary Personnel Information Management System (PIMS) has flagged 22 appointments made in violation of the state government’s recruitment ban imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Advisor for School Education Kekhrielhoulie Yhome confirmed on Monday that the committee has recommended termination of these appointments, which were made despite the April 21, 2020 order halting fresh recruitment as part of austerity measures.
The 22 cases form part of a larger set of 786 appointments identified as irregular under the ban. The issue was discussed during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton at the Secretariat in Kohima, where the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) raised concerns over 109 alleged irregular appointments across 16 departments.
Following the deliberations, the government assured the NSF that termination orders would be issued this week for eight employees who were appointed against Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) posts without following the mandated recruitment process. The move Emphasises the state’s effort to enforce accountability and uphold transparency in public service appointments.
