The Uttar Pradesh government's BC Sakhi scheme, launched in May 2020 through the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, is expanding rural financial inclusion while fostering financial independence among women. Operating on a 'one gram panchayat, one BC Sakhi' model, the initiative trains and certifies women from self-help groups as banking correspondents. Armed with digital devices and mandatory IIBF certification, they deliver doorstep banking services to villagers. Participants receive 4,000 rupees monthly for six months before earning through transaction commissions. According to the state's budget 2026-27 documents, 39,880 BC Sakhis facilitated transactions exceeding 39,000 crore rupees across 58,000 gram panchayats during 2025-26, earning around 107 crore rupees and curtailing the need for rural travel to distant bank branches.

Amit Shah Slams Rahul Gandhi Over SIR; Congress Questions 2029 Claim Citing CEC
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched an attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, urging him to introspect over consecutive electoral defeats rather than blaming the SIR exercise. Accusing Rahul Gandhi of shielding intruders under the pretext of SIR, Shah warned that the Congress should prepare for a fourth consecutive defeat in the 2029 general elections, asserting that the National Democratic Alliance will return with a massive majority. Hitting back, Congress leader Pawan Khera questioned Shah's confidence regarding the 2029 election outcome, asking if it relied on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar remaining in office. Rahul Gandhi affirmed that the opposition's fight would persist until their end goal is achieved, alleging constitutional destruction. The opposition also challenged the government's stance on intruders, alleging that millions of votes were deleted and claiming the Election Commission has been compromised.
CJP Leaders Sent to Tihar Jail; Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal Back Protests
Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have strongly criticised the arrest and five-day judicial custody of Citizens for Justice and Peace co-conveners Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The two leaders were remanded to Delhi's Tihar Prison for entering Jantar Mantar after it was denotified as a protest site and waving the national flag. A third member, Ajinkya Shinde, was released after furnishing a peace bond of five thousand rupees and undertaking to maintain peace. Delhi Police stated that Das and Ranka breached a one-year peace bond signed on 11th October by trespassing, violating prohibitory orders, and obstructing public servants on duty. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke condemned the action, alleging that the government is crushing dissent and daring authorities to declare an emergency. Both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party came out in active support of the student movement, questioning how peacefully waving the tricolor at Jantar Mantar could be treated as a crime.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams CJP as AAP's 'B-Team', Questions Absence of Protests in Punjab
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticised the Cockroach Janta Party, terming it the B-team of the Aam Aadmi Party and accusing it of executing a politically motivated agenda. Gupta questioned why the outfit holds protests in Delhi rather than demonstrating in Punjab over law-and-order incidents such as drug-related killings. She highlighted the financial strain on Delhi traders due to recurring demonstrations during the festive season, pointing out that designated sites like Ramlila Maidan and Burari Ground are available. Meanwhile, Delhi Police maintained heavy barricading and restrictions across Central Delhi to prevent unsanctioned gatherings at Jantar Mantar.
