The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau released its final report into the September 2023 Mumbai charter jet crash involving a VSR Learjet. The probe flagged serious pilot errors, noting an unstabilised approach led to a low-altitude stall that the flight crew failed to recover from. Investigators stated that the pilots ignored a rising speed cue, delayed calling for a go-around, and pressed on with an unsafe approach amid landing deadline pressure, high tailwinds, and marginal weather conditions. The crash left the wings detached and injured two pilots and six passengers. The report also pointed out operator lapses in record maintenance and internal audits, urging the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to enforce stricter pilot training checks.

Addressing the United Nations General Assembly's Third Committee, Indian diplomatic representatives defended the nation's democratic framework, pointing out that constitutional provisions guarantee freedom of speech and assembly. Citing youth movements and public demonstrations in the national capital, India questioned how a repressive state could allow a satirical youth party to march and sit across the table with senior national leadership. The rebuttal also highlighted the government's constructive response to student concerns, including amendments to the Public Examinations Act to double penalties for paper leaks, systemic overhauls, and the setting up of fast-track courts across states. Rejecting selective criticism from international bodies and reports relying on unverified claims, India emphasised that an independent judiciary and free press continue to protect democratic rights across the country.

He further dismissed the scale of demonstrations led by student outfits and opposition parties at Connaught Place, pointing out low public turnout and accusing opposition groups of shifting focus rapidly from student concerns to electoral politics without public backing.
