Widespread searches and arrests have been carried out in the Stepanavan region since early morning among supporters of the opposition Strong Armenia party. Andranik Gevorgyan, an MP from the opposition “Strong Armenia” Faction of the National Assembly, wrote about this on Facebook on Wednesday morning.
“The actions of the authorities are extremely predictable, but what is happening is already crossing the boundaries of reason. Yesterday’s demonstration of ‘democracy’ and today’s blatant illegalities are vivid proof of this,” Gevorgyan added.
Local government elections are scheduled for Sunday in Stepanavan city. The Strong Armenia party has nominated Arsen Gevorgyan as its mayoral candidate there.
