The successful launch shows continued progress in Pakistan’s efforts to develop advanced weapon systems capable of engaging targets at greater distances with high precision.
Equipped with advanced navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics, the Fatah-2 ER is designed to deliver accurate strikes while using its distinctive trajectory and manoeuvrability to challenge enemy missile defence systems. The extended-range variant is expected to enhance the Pakistan Army’s operational reach, providing greater flexibility in engaging distant targets and reinforcing the capabilities of the country’s indigenous missile arsenal.
The missile’s advanced guidance technology and manoeuvrability are central to its intended battlefield role. According to the Army’s announcement, these features are designed to improve targeting precision and make interception more difficult for opposing missile defence systems.
The test is a step in Pakistan’s pursuit of locally developed defence technology, highlighting the contribution of domestic scientists and engineers to the country’s military modernisation efforts.
The test launch was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC), senior Pakistan Army officers, and the scientists and engineers involved in the missile programme. Commending their work, the ARFC commander praised the team’s dedication, technical expertise and contribution to developing the advanced weapon system.
