KUCHING: A Form Four student arrested over an alleged attack on a female teacher at an international school in Kuching has been released on police bail.
The teacher was injured in the incident at about 8am today.
Sarawak acting police commissioner Deputy Commissioner Saifullizan Ishak said police were investigating the incident.
"The police are investigating in detail to ensure the cause of the incident and to obtain evidence. Further details about the incident will be made by the Kuching district police chief," he said in a statement today, adding that the student had been released on police bail.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of the Explosives Act 1957.
A video showing the student attacking the teacher had circulated online earlier.
The international school Tunku Putra-HELP will reopen on Thursday with additional security measures, including the deployment of three ancillary police officers on campus, after a student allegedly injured a teacher.
In a statement, the school said it had reviewed its safety protocols and strengthened security measures in consultation with the relevant authorities following the incident. -- BERNAMA
