An excavator being transported on a flatbed truck damaged newly installed lighting fixtures at the Margalla Enclave Underpass on Park Road in Islamabad after the vehicle failed to clear the structure’s height limit.
The incident occurred at night when the excavator struck the underpass’s overhead structures and LED lights. The collision shattered several expensive lighting fixtures, causing losses worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Following the impact, broken pieces fell onto the road and scattered across the area. The debris also caused minor damage to other vehicles passing through the underpass.
The underpass had recently opened, making the damage to its newly installed infrastructure particularly costly. The incident raises concerns about transporting heavy machinery through structures with height restrictions.
No major casualties or fatal injuries were reported. However, bystanders intervened after the collision and stopped the truck driver at the scene.
The exact cost of the damage and any further action against the driver were not immediately available.
