President of the Republic Keiko Fujimori has arrived in the Madre de Dios region to inaugurate two major electrification projects. These initiatives will integrate more than 152,000 residents of the region into the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN), ensuring a more reliable and secure energy supply.
On this, her 22nd official working visit, the President will commission a 138 kV transmission line and the new Iberia Substation.
These will directly benefit 122,000 inhabitants in the localities of Nueva Pacarán, Alerta, San Lorenzo, La Merced, La Abeja, Iberia, Arca Pacahuara, and Iñapari.

The Head of State will be accompanied during the event by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Guillermo Shinno, and the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli.
The project, which represents an investment of 136 million soles (approximately US$ 40 million), includes the construction of a transmission line spanning roughly 160 kilometers, the new Iberia Substation, and the expansion of the Puerto Maldonado Substation.
Additionally, the President will inaugurate the renovation of the 22.9 kV medium-voltage overhead electrical distribution networks (feeder PM-08).
This upgrade will facilitate the delivery of power from the new transmission line to approximately 30,000 residents across nine localities—Jorge Chávez, Loero, Alto Loero, Cachuela, Alta Cachuela, Centro Cachuela, Puerto Arturo, Santa Teresita, and Oviedo Bajo—situated in the districts of Las Piedras and Tahuamanu.
The renovation of these networks will accommodate rising electricity demand and help prevent the system overloads and service failures previously experienced in these areas.
The project, which entails an investment of nearly 7.4 million soles (about US$ 2.2 million) funded by Electro Sur Este S.A.A., will include the construction of 58.74 kilometers of overhead medium-voltage primary lines, the installation of reinforced concrete poles, and the addition of line lightning arresters, among other equipment.
