The Singapore-born avant-pop artist yeule released their album Evangelic Girl Is A Gun last year. Earlier this year, they covered Nancy Sinatra for the performance art film in which they rolled around in paint. Today, they quietly share a new single called "Hystérique," distorted but glowingly romantic synthpop jam that reminds me of a long-gone version of Grimes.
"Hystérique" moves yeule closer to the realm of straight-up pop, though they're still nowhere near anyone's idea of the mainstream, even if their collaborators are. In this case, yeule co-wrote and co-produced "Hystérique" with Devin Workman and Chris Greatti, professional types who have collaborated, respectively, with Dominic Fike and Yungblud. Check it out below.
"Hystérique" is out now on Ether Eternal/Warner.
