SEYMOUR — To no one's surprise, the battle between the top two ranked boys soccer teams in Class 3A and their vaunted defenses went scoreless over regulation and overtime, leaving the heartbreak that is penalty kicks.
A huge save on second-ranked Bloomington South's third attempt by keeper Elliott Woodland and a miss by the Panthers on their last attempt made the tiny sliver of difference as No. 1 Castle won 4-3 to advance to semi-state.

It's the first regional title for the Knights (18-2-1) since 2021 and ends a two-year reign for the Panthers (15-2-3).
South's defense was up to the task of keeping 28-goal scorer Lucas Jurado in check, holding Castle without a shot on goal until the final minutes of regulation. The Panthers had four shots on goal.
