Gap Inc. will be the recipient of the fifth annual Innovation Award presented by Amazon Fashion at the CFDA Fashion Awards on Nov. 2 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
The Amazon Fashion Innovation Award recognizes visionaries driving innovation in product, branding and storytelling, redefining how consumers discover, experience and connect with fashion today.
Gap Inc. is home to four apparel brands: Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta. For nearly six decades, the retailer has helped define American style through distinctive design, storytelling, cultural relevance and an understanding of how people express themselves. Across its brands, collaborations like Gap with Hailey Bieber and Harlem’s Fashion Row, Old Navy with Altuzarra and Banana Republic with La Ligne look to redefine American style. That creative energy extends beyond fashion into music, art and entertainment, from Gap’s record-breaking Better in Denim campaign with Katseye to Old Navy’s cinematic fall denim campaign starring Cardi B, to the latest partnership with emerging boy brand JYT.
Richard Dickson, president and chief executive officer of Gap Inc. and American designer and CFDA member Zac Posen, executive vice president and creative director of Gap Inc., will accept the award on behalf of the company at the CFDA Fashion Awards ceremony.
“Amazon Fashion is proud to recognize Gap Inc. for its lasting impact on American fashion. Few companies have had such a profound influence on how each generation dresses while continuing to evolve with the changing language of style. By pairing iconic American design with bold creative campaigns and world-class collaborations, Gap Inc. continues to help customers express themselves through the clothes they wear,” said Jenny Freshwater, vice president of Amazon Fashion and Fitness.
“Gap Inc.’s brands have helped define American style for generations, and we’re building on that legacy to shape what comes next,” said Dickson. “The most enduring brands don’t just reflect culture, they help move it forward. Across our portfolio, we’re pushing the boundaries of creativity and innovation — from the products we design to the stories we tell and the unexpected ways we bring fashion, entertainment and culture together. This recognition is a credit to the talented teams and partners bringing the vision to life and creating new ways to inspire and connect with customers around the world,” he said.
Posen added: “At Gap Inc., our teams are reimagining American style, and we’re honored to be recognized by the CFDA. Innovation, community and emotional connection are at the heart of everything we do — from product and storytelling to every brand and retail experience. For us, innovation in fashion isn’t about inventing what’s never been seen; it’s about making the clothes everyone knows feel essential in a new way.”
