EXCLUSIVE: Since resurfacing over the summer as a generator of original stand-up with the announcement of Stand-Up Selects, a new compilation of short sets, Comedy Central has been teasing a return to full-length specials. Now, we know what their first new hour will be.
Their first full-length special in six years is Eyes Down Here, the debut hour from New York stand-up Chloe Radcliffe, which released on the Comedy Central Stand-Up YouTube Channel on Tuesday, October 27th.
Radcliffe is a Comedy Central Stand-Up alum who was named a JFL New Face and one of Deadline’s Comedians Ready To Break Out in 2025. In her debut hour, she takes a hard look at flirting when you don’t fit in — analyzing staring (at her birthmark or other people’s boobs), sitting in a stranger’s sh*t, and why Doritos aren’t made for women. It’s billed as a special for anyone who’s ever felt overlooked at a party.
“Chloe’s keen observations, and fearless candor, make Eyes Down Here overflow with hilarious truths,” said Ari Pearce, EVP, head of Comedy Central original content. “She’s a fast-rising talent and we couldn’t be more excited that she’s joining Comedy Central’s growing stand-up slate.”
Radcliffe has been building a name in recent years off her critically acclaimed one woman show, Cheat, a raw, comedic look at her history of infidelity which she’ll be bringing to Beastie Boy’s G-Son Studio in Los Angeles from November 4-8. The show was a New York Times pick at the New York Comedy Festival and sold out a full-month run at the Edinburgh Fringe; Radcliffe is now developing it for TV. You can read more about the show here.
On the acting side, Radcliffe has appeared in Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On? and Steven Soderbergh’s web series Command Z, for which she also wrote, earning a WGA Award nomination. She is represented by Artists First, Gersh, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
What to make of Comedy Central’s recent resurgence, with the dawn of the Skydance era, remains to be seen. While they continue to air major legacy titles South Park and The Daily Show and recently introduced a Beavis and Butt-Head revival, their reputation as one of TV’s most reliable farm systems for comedic talent has withered over the last decade or so.
The fact that all of Comedy Central’s new releases to date have been exclusive to the digital space has led some in town to question the seriousness of their effort to return as a comedy powerhouse. Notably, they’ve also been named as one potential divestiture target, should Skydance violate its merger agreement with the coalition of 12 state attorneys general, led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta.
In any case, Comedy Central has made a statement in recent months with the announcement of Stand-Up Selects, which have begun to roll out online, and new short-form episodes of Drunk History. Their stated intention is to reassert Comedy Central’s legacy as a champion to new comedic voices while ushering in a new generation of comedy hits. They’ve also teased original podcasts to come, as part of a growing slate of multi-platform originals.
