Sometimes, there’s simply an offer that’s too good to pass up. The Mafia Trilogy, for all intents and purposes, delivers three excellent action-adventure games, and even the third entry--which received a more mixed reception than Mafia and Mafia 2--is a pretty fun time. With around 50 hours of narrative content to enjoy, an 83% discount makes this an absolute bargain. It also gives you a great excuse to finally pick up Mafia: The Old Country.
Playing through all three Mafia games is like watching a TV crime drama, except you get to experience it yourself. Mafia follows Tommy Angelo, a hard-working cab driver during Prohibition. After a run-in with the mob, he ends up working for the Salieri crime family amid a good old-fashioned turf war between two rival families. The promise of riches beyond Tommy’s wildest dreams proves hard to turn down, much like the offer you’re receiving here. Best of all, this is the Definitive Edition, a remake of the 2002 classic.
Mafia 2: Definitive Edition, which is also included in this trilogy, is set during the golden era of organized crime. This time, you play as Vito Scaletta, a war hero who gets involved with the mob to pay off his father’s debts while hoping to achieve the classic American Dream. That’s never caused any problems, of course. The game doesn’t glamorize the mobster lifestyle; in fact, it makes clear just how dangerous it can be. Mafia 2: Definitive Edition also includes its DLCs, giving you even more content to enjoy.
Mafia 3 concludes this collection by jumping forward in time to the late 1960s, with a New Orleans-inspired setting that I personally enjoy more. As Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay, you get caught up in a tale of revenge and strategy after the murder of your family, as you attempt to take power away from the city’s criminal organizations. It’s the most divisive game in the series, but I really enjoyed its more open-world approach.
Overall, the entire trilogy is a great time, and if you’re waiting for a certain other crime-focused game coming out in November, this collection is a great way to pass the time. Especially when you can get three Steam keys for just $10.49 / £8.91 at Fanatical, its lowest price yet.
Personally, I couldn’t live the mob life. Getting things done isn’t my strong suit--it took me five days to write this article. I’m pretty sure a crime family would get fed up with my procrastination and tell me to sleep with the fishes. They’d get bored of me, too.
