LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC has declared a 10% interim cash dividend for the third quarter that ended in September 2026, even as elevated energy prices and production costs squeezed its bottom line over the first nine months of the year.
The multinational cement manufacturer's board of directors approved the Tk1 per equity share interim dividend–aggregating to Tk116 crore–at a meeting held today (19 October), according to a press release. The record date for the dividend distribution has been set for 12 November.
Despite revenue expansion, profitability across the company faced significant pressure due to soaring energy, fuel, transportation, and raw material expenses. In the nine months from January to September, LafargeHolcim reported net sales of Tk2,301 crore, marking a 6% increase from Tk2,166 crore in the corresponding period of 2025.
However, operating EBIT fell 19% year-on-year to Tk349 crore, while net profit after tax dropped 21% to Tk279.70 crore compared to Tk355.60 crore in the same period of 2025. Consequently, earnings per share (EPS) slipped to Tk2.41 from Tk3.06.
The margin compression was particularly pronounced during the July-September quarter, where net revenue rose 13% year-on-year to Tk758 crore, but net profit dropped 47% to Tk63 crore, resulting in a quarterly EPS of Tk0.54.
Iqbal Chowdhury, the chief executive officer of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, stated that the company delivered a resilient performance despite cost pressures caused by Middle East conflicts and constrained domestic demand.
He highlighted that specialised product lines like Holcim Water Protect, Supercrete Plus, and Coastal Guard continued to perform well alongside the Aggregates business, which sustained healthy margins.
He added that Geocycle, the company's sustainable waste management arm, co-processed over 31,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste, achieving a 10% fossil fuel replacement rate with alternative fuels.
The company has proactively implemented rigorous cost-efficiency measures and strategic pricing reviews to navigate ongoing macroeconomic volatility.
