The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Dr Riaz Tanoli, former CEO of the Sehat Insaf Card, to appear on October 29 in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sehat Card Plus programme.
Dr Tanoli has been directed to appear at the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa headquarters in Peshawar.
The bureau has asked him to provide records of Rs12 billion in funds released and spent during the 2023-24 fiscal year. Another Rs9 billion in funds, covering July 2025 to July 2026, is also under scrutiny. NAB has raised questions over unverified expenditures and claims made under the programme.
Investigators are also examining alleged discrepancies in Sehat Card data, including the issuance of duplicate cards. The verification of high-value hospital claims is part of the inquiry.
NAB has demanded bank statements, audit reports and vendor contracts. Dr Tanoli has also been told to submit beneficiary lists and asset statements. The notice questions the use of public funds and the procurement procedures followed in the programme.
