There is a particular moment each year when Banff starts to feel like a completely different place.
The fall colours start to fade, snow settles across the surrounding peaks, and that crisp chill creeps into the mornings. Before you know it, hiking boots have been swapped for ski gear, the sun is setting earlier, and the Canadian Rockies have officially entered winter mode.
For travellers, much of the appeal is getting outside and taking in the scenery. But where you return at the end of the day can be just as important.
As Banff shifts from golden autumn days to snow-covered winter escapes, The Kenrick offers a modern mountain retreat where wellness, dining, and thoughtful design become part of the experience.
Premium King Suite at The Kenrick
Just a short walk from downtown Banff, the boutique hotel has been designed around a simple rhythm: explore, return, and recharge.
Guest rooms and suites take a contemporary approach to mountain design, with warm materials and understated interiors creating a calm and cozy space.
After a long day of exploring, slow things down at The Nora Pool.
This is more than your typical hotel pool. The Nora Pool features a salt-mineral pool, two hot tubs, a cold plunge, a sauna, and a steam room. During Banff’s colder months, there’s something particularly nice about moving from a snowy day outdoors into warm water, steam, and a little time to unwind.
The space is open from early morning until midnight, so guests can fit in some downtime whenever it suits them. And from 10 p.m. to midnight, The Nora Pool becomes adults-only, offering a quieter way to wind down before calling it a night.
When it’s time for dinner, guests don’t have to go far. Downstairs, The Fat Ox serves up Alpine-inspired Italian fare, with handmade pasta, cocktails, and wine on the menu.
And with dinner right downstairs and downtown Banff just a short walk away, there are plenty of ways to spend the evening — whether that means settling in for a leisurely meal or heading out to the lively town.
Of course, Banff will always be about the mountains: ski days, scenic trails, sightseeing, and those incomparable Rocky Mountain views.
But some of the best parts of a trip happen in between the adventures, too. It’s the first coffee of the morning, warming up in the sauna after a day in the cold, taking a quiet soak before dinner, or enjoying a glass of wine before bed.
At The Kenrick, all of those little moments are part of the stay! Explore the mountains, then come back to somewhere warm and comfortable, and be ready for whatever tomorrow brings.
