The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) has banned the use of TikTok, SnackVideo, and other social media apps within university premises following complaints about videos being recorded and shared without students’ consent.
According to a notification issued by the university’s Directorate of Student Affairs, the decision was taken to protect the privacy and dignity of female students.
The university received complaints about people filming female students without permission. Some also uploaded the videos to social media.
The administration responded by restricting TikTok, SnackVideo, and other social media apps on campus.
The university will refer such cases to its disciplinary committee. The committee will review cases involving the creation or sharing of inappropriate content.
The administration also made it clear that individuals found violating the restrictions would face disciplinary action under university rules.
