The 45-year-old man cannot be named because of a publication ban on any information that could identify the alleged victim.
He was arrested last month and charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault.
Police allege the offences were committed in the Lower Sackville area between November 2023 and August of this year.
Defence lawyer Jennifer MacDonald entered not-guilty pleas Tuesday for her client, who was not present.
Judge Tim Daley scheduled the trial for June 28 and 29, 2027.
A hearing on any pre-trial motions will be held in February. Prosecutor Fayzan Khan said the Crown could apply to have the complainant testify via a video link.
The accused spent a few nights in custody before the Crown consented to his release Sept. 22 on a $5,000 bail order with one surety, an Upper Tantallon woman.
The man must reside at an address on Larry Uteck Boulevard in Halifax and cannot have any contact with the boy or be within 25 metres of his home or school.
He is also prohibited from attending parks, playgrounds, schoolyards, daycares, recreation centres or anywhere else persons under the age of 12 are likely to be present, except for any Goodlife location in the presence of his surety.
