A Dhaka court today (25 October) ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct further investigation into allegations of fraud, breach of trust and threats against actress Tanjin Tisha.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after accepting an objection filed by fashion designer Ayesha Anum Fayazah Sanaya Chowdhury against a final investigation report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
Advocate Shubhra Sinha Rony, counsel for the complainant, confirmed the development.
He said the court heard the complainant's objection to the PBI report and recorded statements from all witnesses before directing the CID to investigate the allegations further. The agency has been asked to submit its report by 31 December.
Sanaya filed the case against Tisha at a Dhaka court on 27 November 2025. The court took cognisance of the case and directed the PBI to investigate the allegations.
According to the complaint, Sanaya owns a fashion house and studio on Road 127 in Gulshan. Tisha allegedly borrowed a saree worth Tk75,000 from her to wear at an event on 13 December 2024, promising to return it the following day.
Sanaya alleged that Tisha did not return the saree after the event.
On 15 December 2024, Sanaya sent Tisha a message through Facebook Messenger asking for the saree back. She alleged that Tisha verbally abused her and threatened to kill her in response.
The complaint further states that Sanaya met Tisha at two award ceremonies on 13 and 18 March 2025 and again asked her to return the saree, but it was not returned.
Sanaya also alleged that Tisha called her through Facebook Messenger on 10 November and threatened to file a case against her and humiliate her socially. Sanaya subsequently lodged a general diary with Gulshan Police Station on 12 November.
On 25 May, PBI Sub-Inspector Md Jahangir Alam submitted a final report to the court, stating that the allegations against Tisha could not be substantiated and recommending that she be discharged from the case.
Following the complainant's objection to the report, the court ordered the CID to conduct further investigation.
