Anthony Davis Trolls Bears' Luther Burden After Packers Blowout Win

The Chicago Bears couldn't back up the previous trash talk ahead of their matchup against NFC North rivals the Green Bay Packers, suffering a 31-7 blowout at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay effectively shut down the Bears' offense in Sunday's game, limiting Chicago to only 246 yards of total offense and 3.6 yards per play. Both backup quarterbacks struggled, and Chicago's only touchdown came from running back D'Andre Swift, who finished with an underwhelming 45 rushing yards.

That blowout gave critics and Packers supporters plenty of ammunition to fire back at the Bears, including NBA star Anthony Davis, who took an online jab at wide receiver Luther Burden III.

"@lutherburden3 heard you ain't wanna play today champ!" Davis said in a social media message that has gained attention since yesterday's result.

Davis, a 10-time NBA All-Star and 2020 champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, currently plays for the Washington Wizards. Although he's from Chicago, he's made his Packers fandom very clear.

Burden, who had four receptions for 47 yards in Sunday's loss, fired back at the Wizards star's Instagram comment. He jokingly called Davis a "glazing cheese head" and told him to "take Chicago" out of his bio on the platform because "we don't fw you."

The Bears-Packers rivalry has intensified in recent seasons, particularly with Caleb Williams leading the offense.

Last season, he led the Bears to the top of the NFC North, including a thrilling win over Green Bay near the end of the season, and then helped his team beat them again in the NFC Wild Card Round.

While the Bears played against the Packers without starting quarterback Caleb Williams in Week 5, Ben Johnson managed the star quarterback's absence well in their two previous games.

Those included Keenum leading the team to victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on "Monday Night Football," and then Bagent, along with running back Kyle Monangai, helped them defeat the New York Jets last Sunday.

The Bears and Packers meet again on Christmas Day, with all signs currently pointing to Williams returning from his hamstring strain before that game. That next matchup will be at Soldier Field, giving Ben Johnson, Burden, and the rest of the Bears the potential to avenge their loss and back up any trash talk.
