KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) has been allocated more than RM7 billion under the 2027 Budget to finance strategic initiatives across seven priority sectors.
The sectors are exports, sustainability, transportation and logistics, entrepreneurship, high-growth and high-value industries, tourism, and infrastructure.
BPMB said the funding would support investment, productivity, and competitiveness while addressing financing gaps Malaysian businesses face.
"These initiatives reinforce BPMB's mandate, translating the Nationa 2027 Budget priorities into targeted financing and measurable development outcomes," the bank said in a statement.
Integrating SME Bank Malaysia Bhd and EXIM Bank Malaysia Bhd has strengthened the group's capacity to provide development financing and support strategic investments.
Under the export empowerment agenda, RM1 billion has been allocated to help Malaysian businesses expand into international markets amid global uncertainties.
The allocation comprises RM500 million each for the local acceleration and growth programme and the export leap scheme, alongside grants to support exporters' market access and trade risk management.
For sustainability, RM2 billion has been allocated under Dana Kelestarian Alam 2.0 to finance companies adopting low-carbon initiatives and transitioning towards sustainable operations.

The allocation includes RM600 million for the Bumiputera economic development programme, RM100 million for MySMELady 3.0 and RM150 million for the Umbrella Ecosystem.
A further RM8 million grant under Maju Usahawan Madani 3.0 will support entrepreneurs from underserved communities, including women, youth and rural business owners.
For high-growth and high-value industries, RM750 million has been allocated to accelerate technology adoption, digitalisation and innovation.
Of this, RM500 million will be channelled through the technology adoption fund, while RM250 million will support semiconductor companies seeking to expand their capabilities.
The tourism sector will receive RM700 million, comprising RM200 million under the special fund for tourism and RM500 million under the tourism programme.
Another RM700 million has been allocated under the Madani infrastructure programme to finance public infrastructure, utilities, social infrastructure, food security and national asset-related projects.
"With an allocation of about RM510 billion, the National 2027 Budget advances stronger growth, productivity, sustainability and economic reform under the Madani economic framework and the 13th Malaysia Plan," it said.
