The Los Angeles Chargers and Justin Herbert have had a tough start to the 2026/27 season and Nick Wright has now questioned what the quarterback is actually great at.
The Chargers were most recently in action against the Denver Broncos, losing 17-23.
They are now 0-5 for the season and Wright has now been discussing Herbert’s poor form alongside Colin Cowherd, which included him saying that the quarterback hasn’t been elite in four years.
Nick Wright says Justin Herbert ‘hasn’t been an elite player in four years’
Cowherd asked Wright what he would do if he were the Chargers and Herbert.
He responded: “I’m not that confused by Justin Herbert. Other people are, I’m not. He hasn’t been an elite player in four years.
“He has had flashes, he looks the part. But right now, if you were Justin Herbert’s agent, what do you hang your hat on?
“What is the thing he’s great at other than how he looks in warmups? And the answer is, nothing.”
Things are unlikely to improve for the Chargers or Herbert in week six of the season either.
They return to the field this Sunday against a Kansas City Chiefs team who have improved a great deal since 2025.
The Chiefs have just had a week off and are currently 4-0 ahead of the next round of games.
