Some of Derbyshire's most challenging roads and recognisable landscapes will feature on the route of the Tour de France Femmes when the race comes to the UK for the first time in 2027.
Organisers have confirmed Stage 2 of the race will pass through the Peak District on 31 July as riders travel from Manchester to Sheffield.
The 154.4km (95.9-mile) stage includes almost 3,000m (9,843ft) of climbing and will take competitors over both Winnats Pass and Snake Pass.
Hope and Ladybower Reservoir have also been chosen as sprint locations.
Detailing the route on its website, Derbyshire County Council said: "With challenging terrain, dramatic landscapes and iconic climbs, the route will test the world's best riders as they race through the heart of the Peak District.
"From historic market towns and picturesque villages (including New Mills, Whaley Bridge, Buxton, Tideswell, Bradwell, Hope, Castleton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Glossop), to some of Britain's most celebrated cycling roads, the stage has been designed to deliver exciting racing while showcasing the very best that Derbyshire has to offer."
Snake Pass is one of Derbyshire's highest roads, which has been at the centre of long-running concerns over landslips, closures and repair costs.
Council leaders recently warned that active landslips surrounding Snake Pass could cost more than £100m to investigate and repair.
Charlotte Hill, the authority's cabinet member for highways, said the provisional estimate was "beyond our means and why we continue to lobby for more funding".
The road has recently been subject to engineering works and investigations linked to a series of landslips that have affected parts of the route.
Leaders say however that they are confident the route can host the race safely.
Derbyshire County Council leader Alan Graves said hosting the race was "a big win for Derbyshire".
"The best female cyclists in the world are coming here, and they'll face climbs that local riders know only too well," he said. "Winnats Pass and Snake Pass will test anyone.
"A global TV audience will see Derbyshire at its best. That brings visitors, and visitors bring money into our pubs, cafés and B&Bs."
He acknowledged the event would bring some disruption, with road closures required along the route.
"We're working with partners and communities now so there are no surprises, and we'll keep people updated as plans firm up," he said.
The Tour de France Femmes will begin in Leeds on 30 July 2027 before crossing the Pennines and finishing in Manchester.
The following day, riders will head through Derbyshire and the Peak District before a stage finish in Sheffield.
Britain will also become the first country outside France to host the Grand Départs of both the men's and women's Tours in the same year, with the men's race beginning in Edinburgh.
The British stages of the women's race will conclude in London on 1 August.
