Gleison Bremer has had a busy week following some tough comments toward his Juventus teammates after the collapse against Lazio, which led to a fine and an apology and rekindled the chatter about his future, TuttoSport informs.
The defender accused other Bianconeri players of hiding when the crowd booed because they were scared. He had to hash it out in the locker room and was publicly reprimanded by the management and Luciano Spalletti. He was also sanctioned, even though his criticism, while very straightforward, was meant to be constructive.
Bremer won’t be stripped of the captain’s armband but has been invited to avoid similar that kind of by the Juventus brass. In the meantime, his camp has received calls from other teams, in particular Bayer Leverkusen, ahead of January.
The suitors weren’t outright rejected, but the Bianconeri don’t intend to let the center-back depart too easily. He has a €6M salary, and his release clause, which activates every summer for a period of time, amounts to roughly €60M. Only very rich offers could entice the officials to start the negotiation. The Brazilian has been linked to an exit a few times. However, it has never come close to materializing. He’s not pushing to leave at this stage, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
Our Take on Juventus and Bremer
He should be spotless to make remarks like that. While he’s been fine and better than last year, he’s been far from perfect, especially in the game in question. There must be a disconnect within his entourage, as part of it often leaks about outside interest, but then it’s swiftly dismissed, reiterating his firm desire to stay. He’s probably more valuable to his current club than other ones.
