Canadian officials have said that a fire at a military base in the country that killed four people initially started as a small vegetation fire on the site.
Reuters reported early Monday, October 19, that the fire also affected the health of 19 other people due to smoke inhalation.
According to the report, 39 people were admitted to hospitals following the fire at the Canadian Armed Forces Base in Wainwright.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney described the incident as one of the worst peacetime military disasters to occur on Canadian soil.
Meanwhile, winds reaching speeds of 96 kilometers per hour at the time of the fire reportedly fueled the flames.
